Animated Storyboard

Our story board starts off with the main shot of our trailer, the time lapse in the underground, we the introduce disturbing drawings and pictures in shots 2 and 3, these will be flashes, quick takes then shot 4 showing a master shot of all the drawings in a intreging room. Shot 5 will be a first title. Then shot  6 goes back to the scene of the underground. Planned to be filming going down the esculator then revealing our main character the girl at the bottom.
in shot 7 we return to the time lapse where the girl will have moved forward closer to the camera but not too close. We will then flash back in shot 8 to the room skattered with drawings but this time the girl will be scribbling away. Following this will be 2 more titles. The transformation from shot 8 to 9 will be a fade or blur from the girls face in the underground time lapse blended perfectly using the grid effect on the camera to get this accurate into the same girl in her room.

shot 13 shows some of the disturbing images and drawings on the wall fluttering, dramatically lighted. This is then followed by the film title. After the screen will turn fuzzy like shown in the ring. It will the cut to an obver the sholder shot of 2 girls switching the trailer off. This is the twist of the trailer as you have read in the synopsis one of the girls realises that she is that girl. Then a quick flash will be shown "coming soon".

Synopsis

Our plot is about 2 friends who think they are watching a horror film, but it turns out that they are watching never seen before footage of one of their childhoods, but which one is the question. There are two main character Amy and Claire. One of these 2 characters would have been the young girl who had mental problems, throughout the film there will be hints and clues to which one it was. The film will start out with one of the characters as a young girl, who looks rather disturbed standing in the underground. In this scene the girl will be standing still while people are rushing past we will use a time lapse to achieve this effect. Standing out from the crowd she will immediately be shown clearly as the main character to the audience. She is making no contact with anyone and is just starring into the camera, highlighting the fact she is disturbed. Some clips will show the girl alone in her room, the mis-en-sence will help to shown that the girl is not a conventional early teen, her room will be scattered with disturbing drawings and pictures. Scribbling away, screaming making the audience uncomfortable with her presence. If we can find the location there will be a clip of the girl in a mental institute sitting in a white small room, with nothing but a chair and table. As time passes she will begin to become more and more stressed causing her to act out in this confined space as her behaviour is being monitored, maybe even using Surveillance. Using parallel editing and short takes the film will flick back and forth to the shot of the girl in the underground (time lapse) through out the trailer. The girl at the underground slowly getting closer to the camera, and also slowly getting more and more aggravated in the room.

Target Audience

- Teenagers
- Young Adults
-  15-25

There are a number of reason why we believe that this is the best suited age group for our film, one being that the characters are of similar ages so we feel that the audience will be able to interact with the characters more and understand how they are feeling. The film also contains quite disturbing footage, though violence is kept to the bare minimum we believe that 15 year old are mature enough to watch this film. Through doing research we have also found that films with similar story lines and also films with much stronger graphical images than our film have the same ages restriction, so we feel that this is a suitable age range.
We also believe that the horror genre we have chosen will capture the attention of young teenagers, more than it will for adults, due to the fact that the main actor/characters are starring in a "teenage" film.

Looking on the IMDb website, we found the results for one of our influences PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2. We found that it rated highest on the age range 18 and under both female and male. This is how we want our film to correlate. We want both males and females to be drawn in to our film. Although it was highest rated by under 18's, 18-29's also seemed to like it so although we are ages 17 and 18 and the ideas are coming from a similar age we hope to appeal to the higher age group also, for a larger audience range.

Initial Ideas

Here is a spider diagram of some of our initial ideas, for setting, shots, titles and influences. We did all of this in order to help us with our synopsis.

Purpose of project

The set brief for our groups project is to produce a teaser trailer for our new decided 'film' that lasts no longer that the approximate maximum amount of all teaser trailers, 1 minute 30 seconds. Our blog will document/ record our daily events and ideas towards our finishing product including the final touches to our evaluation.

Influences

We created a Prezi to show trailers which have had an influence on our ideas. From the location and  characters to potential influential shots we could use in our teaser trailer

Pitch

when a horror movie about a girl with psychological issues turns into reality who will she disturb next...

horror mood board

Although we originally were interested in creating a romantic comedy teaser trailer, after further research it became more clear that this would not be our best choice if we wanted to create something reasonally believable and done to be best of our ability. We then found many trailers and films that stimulated ideas more, which were horrors. Although at first we were reluctant to do a horror as last year we did a similar thing we felt that with the ideas we had gathered, we were most influenced by the genre horror than any other. below is a mood board of some of the clips and scenes we found a great influence in choosing this genre.

It shows titles and locations in other films that have influenced our choices of possible locations and character choices. Also concepts such as the bottom left screen shot from scream where the film there watching turns out to actually be there own lives.

Mood Board

Over the weekend i had a thought about what kind of genre i wanted to do for my teaser trailer. I choose Romantic Comedy, so i made a mood board for it, here are some of my ideas.

Originally we discussed to base the genre of our teaser trailer for our 'film' on Romantic Comedy so here I put together a mood board gathering my ideas and thoughts including screen grabs from popular romantic comedys and titles etc.

WHAT IS A TEASER TRAILER?

A teaser trailer ('teaser'), is a short trailer used to advertise an upcoming film, television program, video game, or product. It is a variation of a film trailer. Some don't reveal any of the major aspects from the plot simply 'teasing' the audience while not revealing the storyline. A trailers purpose is to engage the audience, some to be as sort as 15 seconds and some to be as long as 1 minute 30. However long the trailer is all are usually playful throughout.

Below are a few basic examples of teasers trailers we have already began to research and record notes on:

The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence)Teaser Trailer 1 minute 30 seconds
The Human Centipede contains no footage of the actual film itself, just the audiences reactions making people interested in the content and wanting to find out exactly what they are watching. The titles shown above in the screen grabs we carefully put together show how horrific the content may be, i.e. 'BANNED IN BRITAIN'. Of, course audiences watching this teaser trailer will wish to know the reason as to why it is banned, therefore this is very clever. The titles appeared to the beat of the backing track this increased the intensity making the short teaser exciting. As an audience it is quite easy to believe it is over exaggerated therefore it can be on the borderline of deceiving. 'HAS HORROR GONE TOO FAR?', this suggests they are almost proud of the fact their film is too inappropriate.

"Green With Envy" (Muppets Movie) Teaser Trailer   1 minute 30 seconds
This trailer begins to fall the audience into believing the genre is a romantic comedy, until all is revealed when the first muppet is introduced, we find out the movie isn't actually titled "Green with Envy" it is in fact called Muppets Movie. From extra research we found out, to add effect to the mystery of the film the production company created two sets of posters to advertise the film, one titled "Green with Envy" the other "Muppets Movie".

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Teaser Trailer 1 minute 42 seconds

This trailer had an extremely fast pace of short takes containing flashing images throughout the film in different orders to complicate and not reveal too much of the storyline to the audience. All takes were played to the beat of the backing track building up to the enormous bold titles which were shown in between takes.

Because it is a sequel, a film title or long length teaser trailer is not needed as everyone is aware of the film series. It is short and sweet, highlighting the main event of the film prompted by the headings shown in the screen grabs above. Although it highlights what is suggested as the main event of the film, it does not give away the storyline including who Edward is marrying as he is the only character revealed. Unfortunately, because this teaser trailer does not revel very much, it will seem very confusing to new audiences if they have not already seen the sequel. The title 'You are cordially invited', entices the audience and involves them to go and view the film. It's almost as though the audience is at the event.
